I have a worn book in my basket
that I carry always at my side.
A book that takes a girl to the stars,
to the city streets, to a crossroads.
A girl in pink and blue with lightening in her eye
with fond memories and tall tales
crowding her overheated mind.
A wild beyond
meets a mom’s structured day, tight schedule —
a place she dreams her kids will go.
She puts her words on paper,
on air, online,
and when that last page turns
her curious brain soaks it all in,
exhausted but still here.
