Cherry Coke

Cherry Coke lines my insides.
The bubbles elevate my brain
Higher
Lighter
Until my whole world is floating.
My sacred temple gave in
To its insistent cravings.
Bad choices
For momentary smiles.
The drink’s grasp wakes me
Opens my crisp cold eyes
Glues me to the happenings.
A steady stream of Cherry Coke
Pulls me through another uncertain day.
