Cold and Extinguished

Painful breeeze
chills the rigid earth
Crisp snowflakes cling to my messy curls
Another frigid drop in the fickle atmosphere

Outstretched tongues
catch sweet frozen morsels from high above
My brain quickly freezes in a snow squall
Freedom tingles from the toes up

My stiff finger stretches to the North Star
It fizzles at my brittle touch
Another leading light

My now numb extremities
feel the way
through the dead cold night
Yesterday’s blanket crunches underfoot
